Defending Our Legacy: Exposing Robby Starbucks Misguided Attacks

Robby Starbuck Newsom, also known as "Robby Starbuck," recently released a video accusing Harley-Davidson of being "woke." As a Harley dealer, we want to clarify that this is purely our perspective and not the stance of Harley-Davidson. It's time to set the record straight and call out these baseless accusations for what they are—a tactic to gain clicks and line his pockets.

The Real Robby Starbuck and Starbuck's True Motives

Robby Starbuck has a history of making sensationalist statements and attacking reputable companies with loyal followings, including John Deere, Tractor Supply, and now Harley-Davidson. His recent video accusing Harley-Davidson of being "woke" is just another baseless attempt to stir controversy, drive traffic to his content, and ultimately line his pockets. By exploiting social media algorithms and provoking strong reactions, Starbuck isn't offering genuine concern or informed critique; he's using these attacks to raise his profile, increase ad revenue, and gain political recognition. This clickbait strategy is nothing new, and Starbuck is simply the latest to capitalize on it.

Commitment to Workforce Development

Harley-Davidson is dedicated to providing thousands of training and development opportunities for its workforce. Contrary to Mr. Starbuck’s claims, Harley-Davidson does not mandate any training beyond what is legally required, ensuring its standing as a top-tier employer. Any additional training offered is completely voluntary.

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)

Harley-Davidson supports a diverse range of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that include Veterans, Hispanic/Latinx, Women, Asian, Young Professionals, African American, and LGBTQ+ communities. Recently, they’ve added a new ERG focused on Parents/Caregivers. These groups independently organize events specific to their focus areas. Harley-Davidson embraces inclusivity—an important quality we should expect from all employers today.

Charitable Partnerships

Since 2020, Harley-Davidson has shifted its charitable focus from United Way to organizations like The Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Near West Side Partners, and The Hunger Taskforce. Additionally, the company has a long history of supporting veterans, military organizations, and first responders. Mr. Starbuck’s claims overlook Harley-Davidson’s ongoing commitment to meaningful community support. As a former congressional candidate, we’d be curious to know what charitable efforts Mr. Starbuck has supported.

A Proud American Institution

Over its 120-year history, Harley-Davidson has faced its share of judgments, criticisms, and attacks. It will take much more than baseless accusations to shake this American institution. While we all value freedom of speech, it’s important that criticisms be based on corroborated and factual information.
